Windows bring to life your home while offering your family your own personal view onto the world. While you will not be snagging any records at your house, our team takes a look at some of the top windows around the world to inspire your own home improvement projects.

Stained Glass: The largest stained glass window is just around the corner in Justice, Ill. The Resurrection Cemetery is home to a 22,000 square feet stained glass window as part of a mausoleum. The structure includes 2,248 panels of Dalle de Verre stained glass with scenes depicting airplanes, dinosaurs and an atomic explosion.

Super Strong: The strongest glass in the world is in the works by the U.S. Department of Energy scientists and the California Institute of Technology had a major breakthrough in the field. Their glass creation is considered stronger than steel by combining elements that include palladium, a rare metal.

Ancient Window: St. Andrew’s Church, Boxford, in the United Kingdom houses the oldest working window that was uncovered during renovations. This window is just 2 foot by 1 foot and is a wooden structure that would have been worked by hemp hinges during its time more than 1,000 years ago.

View Below: While not a traditional window, the longest glass bridge does offer a view that is unique and exhilarating – right under your feet. The title of longest glass-bottomed bridge was recently taken over by the Bach Long Bridge in Vietnam that spans 2,073 feet and is approximately 492 feet above the ground overlooking mountain rainforest. The title previously was held by a structure in Guangdong, China.

Up Close and Personal: If you want to get face-to-face with whale sharks, travel to the Hengqin Ocean Kingdom in Guangdong Province, China. The Whale Shark Exhibit tanks boasts the world’s largest aquarium window as well as the latest underwater viewing dome. The park includes seven themed areas all representing a part of the ocean.

Windows Right in Your Backyard

While you may not be able to travel to see these impressive windows, our team at Berg Home Improvements can work with you to update your own set of windows. New windows not only offer a better view, but also can help you save money on energy bills as well as be easier to clean and maintain. Many modern windows have a tilt-in feature that offers access to the outside of your upper windows right from the inside of your home. You can keep them clean without having to drag out a ladder.

Our Berg team focuses on only exterior home elements, so we can hone our skill set and provide quality service and products to our customers in the Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana region. When you are ready to get your own project going, reach out to us through our online contact form.
